Kony Platform

The Kony Platform consists of three main components:

• Kony Studio: The centerpiece design and development engine for creating mobile applications.
• Kony Server: The middleware server for connecting mobile applications built in Kony Studio to services and data sources, and delivering optimized mobile web.
• Client Runtime component for each major device platform that enables the same mobile application to execute directly on the device.

This document explains how to install the Kony Studio.

 

The Kony Server installation also includes an application called Memcached. Memcached allows you to maintain sessions for the mobile application user across different instances of the Kony Server.

 To launch Kony Server, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to <Install Drive>:\KonyOne folder and double-click Memcached shortcut. Alternatively, you can navigate to <Install Drive>:\kony\Kony-Server\memcached folder and double-click the memcached application file.

   This starts the memcached process in port 21201.

2. Navigate to <Install Drive>:\KonyOne folder and double-click Kony Server(Start) shortcut. Alternatively, you can navigate to<Install Drive>:\KonyOne\Kony-Server\tomcat-6.0.29\instance1\bin folder and double-clickstartup.bat file.

   This starts the following processes:

   1. Starts the Tomcat server on port 8080.
   2. Launches the Kony Server for back-end integration.
   3. Launches the admin module for enabling Service Definition files to be published from the Kony Studio to the Kony server. The Service Definition file is an interface for communication between mobile application and the back-end data source.
